When cutting large and heavy tubes/profiles, the power consumption of the laser cutting machine was always the main cost of the machine.
That is because holding and moving such tubes/profiles, several sets of powerful motors and drivers must work accordingly to allow the fixed laser head to cut a designed pattern. The extra set of chucks also means extra power consumption.
To deal with such an issue, ACME developed a double Y-axis cutting system. This system adds an extra set of motors to the laser cutting head, so it won't stay on the fixed Y-axis position any more. That means the laser head alone can cut a 2D pattern without any movement of the chucks. So when you need to cut a specific pattern on a profile, the machine will move the profile to the cutting location, then fix it. And the cutting head will do the 2D cutting on its own. This feature brings two benefits. One, less power consumption. According to the clients, comparing with a normal 3 chuck machine, the double Y-axis could help them save upto 50% energy (6kw laser source). This will bring huge benefit to mass-producers.
